Fall Semester 2018
Authors have birthdays, and birthdays are meant to be celebrated! So we're hosting some fun on our favorite authors' special days. Join us this fall for Chris Grabenstein's Library Olympics Day, Noah Webster's Dictionary Day, JK Rowling's Fantastic Beasts Day, and Classic Christmas Story Day featuring How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Click here for details.
Each year the Young People’s Department at the Dorothy Bramlage Public Library takes part in some special community events. Join us this fall semester for the JCPD Block Party, All Treats Day, and the 2nd annual Junction City Hometown Christmas celebration! Click here for details.
If you are getting ready to start 6th grade this fall, you won't want to miss this night of fun and games to give you the opportunity to practice some middle school skills you'll need. Join us for locker combination and bag packing relays races, schedule reading and class switching games, and more! Advance registration is required by August 1.
Read to a Dog programs increase literacy skills for struggling readers by offering them opportunity to read aloud to a dog. Our Read to a Dog program provides young people (grades 1-12) 15 minutes of read-aloud time per session with a certified therapy dog. Advance registration is required. (Due to the limited number of spaces available per day and the distance dog owners travel to be available for this program, registrations are viewed as a commitment to attend. Those who register but fail to attend their reserved session forfeit future registration for the semester.)
Reading sessions are available on the following dates:
September 16; October 7, 21; November 4, 18; December 2
A jar of Christmas cocoa mix or bowl of seasonal soup mix is a great gift for the holidays! And if you order the cocoa or soup mix through us this holiday season, you give a gift twice because all proceeds from cocoa and soup sales go to the library’s book donation program, DBPL at DBPL: Donating Books to Promote Literacy. This program puts new books in the hands of members of the Geary County community to encourage reading and thereby to support literacy and strengthen our community. Click here for details.
Third Fridays, 6:30-8pm
Join us for some fun activities and events!
Open to grades 6-12.
Advance registration is required. Click here for details.
Here at the library, we love to read! And we want to share our love of reading with you! Each semester, we hold our Reading Participation Programs to offer reading challenges and increase the fun of reading. This semester we have three Reading Participation Programs you won’t want to miss! Click here for details.
