Many schools use the Accelerated Reader (AR) software as part of students' curricula. This program monitors students' reading practice and tests their comprehension to determine their reading levels. In doing so, it requires students to read books within their designated reading level. (An AR level of 1.2, for example, is an early first-grade level; 4.5 is a mid-fourth-grade level; 6.7 is a late sixth-grade level; etc.)
Finding AR book options that fit certain reading levels can be tricky. To help with that, we have put together a list of some common books for each grade level. The list is not meant to be comprehensive--just a good starting point. (Accelerated Reader is not generally used past middle school grades, but we have provided a small number of high school options too, just in case.) To check books not on the list to determine their AR level, visit this website: http://www.arbookfind.com/usertype.aspx
